You want fair pay.

Paul Ryan voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.1  Romney and his surrogates have claimed that because equal pay for equal work is the law of the land, they see no need for this act.

Just one slight problem: as everyone who has ever worked anywhere knows, discussing your salary is verboten.  So how are you supposed to know if a male co-worker is being paid more than a female doing the same job?  A previously existing statute severely restricted the amount of time a person had to bring suit, if you found out later that an employer engaged in wage discrimination.

The Lilly Ledbetter act simply extends the amount of time you have to file.2  So all this act does, in essence, is make it possible to enforce existing laws.  Why would anyone who claims to be for equal pay vote against it?
